How Reckonbook works

The core workflow as specified. Each step corresponds to a capability in the register entry; nothing here has been implemented yet.

Design intent: fully specified, not yet built
  1. Step 01

    Raise and dispatch the invoice

An invoice is generated from the sales or contract record it relates to, so the amounts, terms and counterparty come from the source rather than being re-keyed. It is dispatched from the same place.

  2. Step 02

    Chase on an ageing cadence

The open balance enters the ageing receivables view. As it moves through age bands, the dunning cadence issues the next reminder automatically, and the current position of every debt stays visible.

  3. Step 03

    Match the payment

Bank and payment processor feeds are read as they arrive, and receipts are matched to open invoices. Matched items clear from the ageing view; unmatched items stay flagged for review.

  4. Step 04

    Handle disputes and part payments

Where a counterparty queries an amount or settles only part of it, the dispute or partial settlement is tracked against that invoice, with the remaining balance carried on and the reason recorded.

  5. Step 05

    Report collections performance

Days sales outstanding and the aged-debt trend are reported over time, so the effectiveness of the cadence can be judged on figures rather than impression.
